ERRAC PAG, EURNEX, and EUROPE’S RAIL are announcing a call for abstracts for a student competition. The main goal of this competition is to highlight outstanding scientific results for a sustainable and future‑oriented railway system in Europe - European Theses - and to facilitate access for young practitioners and early‑career researchers to the railway industry and the specific environment of the railway sector.
Target candidates
Former master students and PhD students in the field of railway studies (who graduated their studies in 2024 or 2025).
The graduated students are encouraged to send an abstract of their European thesis or work (max 4 pages) -Please find some details lefthand.

The Master or PhD thesis defence took place in academic year 2023-2024 or 2024-2025
Scope
The main goal of this competition is to highlight excellent scientific results in the railway domain for a sustainable and future‑oriented railway system in Europe - European Theses - and to facilitate the access of young practitioners and scholars to railway industry and the specific environment in the railway domain.
Important dates
- 31 March 2026 - Abstract of the work (max. 4 pages including bibliography and figures)
- 18 May 2026 - Selection of finalists (4 proposals will be selected – 2 Masters and 2 PhDs)
- 18 June 2026 - Public presentation/poster – award ceremony ERRAC plenary 18 June 2026 in Brussels
