IDEALIST is preparing its 5th Learning Expedition (LEX #5), which will take place in Nantes, France, on 10–11 June 2026. Hosted by ALBATROS GIE, this new edition will focus on 3D printing and hybrid manufacturing processes, bringing together industrial SMEs, technology experts and ecosystem representatives from across Europe.

Learning Expeditions are a flagship activity within IDEALIST. They are designed as immersive, on-site experiences that allow companies to learn directly from industrial practices, explore emerging technologies and connect with peers facing similar challenges along European value chains.

A learning expedition at the heart of advanced manufacturing

LEX #5 will be dedicated to hybrid manufacturing and additive manufacturing technologies, two key enablers for more flexible, efficient and resilient industrial production. Through a mix of technical and collaborative activities, participants will gain insights into how these processes are already being applied in real industrial contexts.

The event will include:

  • Technical conferences addressing current developments and applications of 3D printing and hybrid manufacturing
  • A Strategic Foresight workshop, supporting SMEs in anticipating future technological and market trends
  • Factory visits to leading industrial players such as Airbus, Daher and Loiretech, offering direct exposure to advanced production environments
  • Dedicated moments for networking and peer-to-peer exchanges, fostering collaboration across sectors and regions

Why Nantes?

Nantes is a vibrant industrial hub where aeronautics, advanced manufacturing and innovation-driven SMEs coexist within a strong regional ecosystem. Hosting LEX #5 in Nantes offers participants a unique opportunity to explore how additive and hybrid manufacturing processes are integrated into industrial value chains, while engaging with companies and stakeholders at the forefront of these transformations.

Supporting SMEs with travel vouchers

To facilitate SME participation, travel vouchers of up to 500€ will be available for eligible SME representatives attending LEX #5. This support aims to lower participation barriers and encourage SMEs from different European regions to take part in the Learning Expedition.

Travel vouchers will be managed through the IDEALIST consortium, and further details on eligibility and procedures will be shared ahead of the event.

Learning, networking and collaboration

LEX #5 is designed not only as a learning opportunity, but also as a space to build connections, exchange experiences and identify future collaboration opportunities. By bringing together companies, clusters and technology experts, IDEALIST continues to strengthen cross-sector dialogue and support SMEs in navigating the digital and green transitions.
