What to expect?

This ERCI Webinar presents some new insights into innovative strategies for the use of materials for railway infrastructure.

The reuse of materials and the management of surplus materials across various construction sites are key components of the sustainable approach to TUC RAIL’s projects. This aims to reduce the ecological footprint of the railway industry by generating less waste and placing less pressure on natural resources. The TUC RAIL vision to prioritize the use of re-used and unused new materials before purchasing new ones formed the basis for developing the EcoTrack platform for railway materials. This platform is intended to provide the necessary visibility, transparency, and traceability for the recycling of railway materials, ensuring it is embedded throughout the entire organisation.

Composite Braiding Ltd (CBL) worked with Amey, a major rail and road infrastructure design and installation company, to design and install a composite twin track cantilever structure. The task was to demonstrate what benefits could be realised from introducing innovative materials rather than using the current standard of galvanised steel. This presentation sets out the results of that work and looks at the future applications.
