DITECFER cluster organises at the Port of La Spezia in Italy the next meeting of the ERCI Task Force Multi-Modal Logistics on the hot topic of “Military Mobility”.
For the European Commission, Military Mobility’s goal is to ensure swift and seamless movement of military personnel, materials and assets within and beyond the EU, at short notice and on a large scale.
The European Union has deployed several initiatives to enable this, including investing €1.69 billion for realising dual-use infrastructure. The Port of La Spezia is one of those organisations having realised a dual-use railway station within the port area using such funds. The meeting will include the visit to such new infrastructure, as well as to the Santo Stefano Magra Logistics Hub.
The Task Force will ultimately discuss what rail networks, ports and logistics hubs still need when they have to transport military assets and personnel, instead of normal goods and passengers, and much more.
